The redevelopment of this 14-acre site into the Spartan Gateway District will establish a prominent, long-lasting entryway to Michigan State University—one that fosters long-term impact, enriches the campus experience for future generations, and deepens the connection between the university and the surrounding community. Situated along Harrison Road on the west side of campus, the project will include a new hotel, retail offerings, and a state-of-the-art athletic arena designed to host volleyball, wrestling, and gymnastics events. The arena will also feature locker rooms, coaching offices, and university classrooms to support a variety of academic programs.
The district will be delivered in multiple phases. Phase one includes the arena, which is expected to be operational by late 2027.
